Phew! Inkscape is cool but took some time getting used to GUI.

First of all, GONG XI FA CAI! to all my Chinese members out there! May this year of the OX be prosperous and bountiful for you and family.

Just finished watching and doing a drawing on Inkscape. My typing is very erratic right now as hand-eye co-ordination at this time of the day is limited. thank god for spellchecker!
Here's the video. Will try to embed the svg.

Inkscape Tutorial by heathenx: Create a Reminder Note

I've been an adobe illustrator user for quite some time (started with macromedia's freehand, actually) and am greastly impressed by what Inkscape can do. There's some GUI & keystroke differences but like I've always believed, these awesome apps are just tools to what we want to create! Mastering them is key, of course, but it shouldn't be seen as so laborious that we might lose track of our creative outlet.

Now I need to quickly learn how to embed an Inkscap svg to our wiki page.
See ya soon!

of blogs and blogging...

Talked to my pupils form IFC today about blogging. I was a bit
concerned that folks were more interested on beautifying their blogs
with blogskins than really making it a fully functional and easy-to-use
form of online reflection and thoughts. I guess, I can't blame anyone
for that as the desire for all of us to be unique from one another does
reveal itself in almost all aspects of our lives. But I do want these
initial stages to move on a bit faster so as we can continue learning
other stuff!

Hey there! Blogging direct from my browser. Firefox rules!

Greetings. Doubt any of you would be up and checking the blog... Anyways, I've just added this coolf eature to my Firefox web browser and had tested it onto my own blog. It works! Since I do spend some time surfing and updating blogs and wikis on saturdays, this app on my browser is pretty cool. I will definitely show you guys what it is actually.
I'm still contemplating on whether I should cancel CCA this coming Tuesday or just simply continue with the lesson on Design Basics 101. I'll definitely have to put up some sample poster designs to give all of you a better idea how good design can be acheived if we pay a little bit more attention to details and the PARC principles.

New look for ifc blog as well as wiki page.

Greetings and a good morning to all! Have been up since 3.30am mending broken links on wiki page as well as inserting 12...only 12 pupils' work on their bcs. I know some of you did post onto the wikipage BUT accidentally deleted the previous posts and my instructions! Sigh. No worries though the submit page is up and running again. Do take extra care when uploading your bc design and putting in your comments. Lets try avoid another major disaster shall we? =)
I will try to put up the powerpoint slides for the lesson on Design Basics 101 later today. (check out the wikipage)

Things that you could do over the weekend, if you have some time and access to the internet:

  1. Create your own blog - it's pretty easy
  2. Download the IFC_masthead.doc and work on it by applying the Proximity element of design. Email me your final product.
  3. Work on the bc for those whom have yet to do so!
Have a good weekend ahead!

Newest & youngest members!

Greetings everyone.
If all turns out as planned today, we will be welcoming our new members to the IFC - our Primary Ones! Unfortunately, we can only use Comp Lab 2 from 4.30pm onwards as there is a Cl language Competition going on. Nevertheless, our CCA still begins as usual but we will be meeting in the library's Infoasis instead.
Things to do:

  1. IFC members - brainstorm and produce a rough sketch of what the 3R poster would look like - everybody, yes, everybody!
  2. P1s will be introduced to the basic hardware and GUI of a PC - Mr Rizal
  3. Once we're back in our lab, I will present a powerpoint presentation on design basics.
So see ya soon!
